This past weekend, VALT’s founder joined News Radio KKOB Host Terry Travis to spotlight a problem most people don’t realize: “The problem is that everybody controls your data except for you.”
In the segment, he explained how corporations profit from personal information without consent, pointing to a staggering statistic: “The data brokerage industry… make $500 billion a year doing this currently, and it’s growing very quickly.”
VALT was created to flip that dynamic. As the founder put it, “At VALT, we believe that $500 billion belongs in your pockets and not in the pockets of companies that steal it for a living.”
In recent years, data privacy has shifted from being a niche concern to a mainstream issue. With new regulations like GDPR and the CCPA, governments are acknowledging what people have felt for years — that individuals deserve control over their digital lives. At the same time, the $500 billion data brokerage industry keeps growing, showing just how valuable personal information has become. VALT exists to close that gap, giving everyday people tools to protect their privacy and finally benefit from the value their data generates.
The interview also highlighted how VALT is building tools for a new kind of privacy-first internet. Among them is the decentralized VPN (dVPN): “We’ve created a fundamentally different type of VPN. It’s called a DVPN… it is impossible for anybody to spy on your internet activity. So it’s the most secure VPN in the world.”
But privacy is only half the story. VALT also helps people organize and control their own data: “The most innovative and exciting feature… is the personal database marketplace… you can put this (Your Data) all in a vault that only you can access.”
